Achieve, Inc.
An independent, nonprofit organization that provides information, advice, and technical assistance to states and districts as they seek to implement standards-based reforms.

American Federation of Teachers
The American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO—the union that Albert Shanker helped to build—has long been a key leader in the push to raise standards of academic performance and behavior in American schools.

The Business Roundtable
An association of CEOs committed to improving public policies, including those that would serve to raise student achievement in the U.S. and help graduates succeed in a changing world.

Center on Education Policy
An independent, nonprofit organization that promotes and advocates for the improvement of public education.

Consortium for Policy Research in Education
Research teams from five leading universities
study various aspects of education reform, including standards, accountability, and the leadership, organization, and finance of school systems.

Council for Basic Education
A national, non-profit organization that advocates for high academic standards and exemplary teaching in every public school classroom in America.

Education Commission of the States
This organization of state education leaders works to inform and strengthen education policy and policymaking at the state level.

Education Trust
Established by the American Association for Higher Education in 1990, the Education Trust works to close the achievement gap in the U.S. and ensure that all students can meet high academic standards.

Learning, Research and Development Center
A multidisciplinary research center at the University of Pittsburgh, the LRDC works to improve teaching and learning through several initiatives, such as co-sponsorship of the New Standards project.

Mass Insight
An organization dedicated to improving student achievement in Massachusetts schools through standards-based initiatives.

McREL
A private, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to improve education through applied research and development.  McREL conducts research and evaluation to examine policy and practice in standards, curriculum and instruction.

National Education Goals Panel
An independent, government agency that monitors national and state progress in regard to the National Education Goals.

National Governors’ Association
In
addition to its work on other public policy issues, the NGA Center for Best Practices provides information on effective educational practice from early childhood to post-secondary education.

Partnership for Learning
An organization dedicated to improving student achievement in Washington State schools through standards-based initiatives.

Public Agenda
An organization designed to inform citizens on public policy issues and to help leaders understand the public’s view on those issues

Southern Regional Educational Board
Founded in 1948 as the nation’s first compact for education, the SREB works to improve every aspect of education—from early childhood programs to doctoral degrees and beyond.

StandardsWork
A nonprofit vendor of services pertaining to standards-based reform, including material related to Raising the Standard, a step-by-step guide for school and community action.
